How to change the excerpt ellipsis in WordPress

When WordPress’ the_excerpt() function calls a post without an excerpt, it adds […] after that post’s content. If you want to change that, you can add the following code to your theme’s functions.php file:

function change_excerpt_ellipsis($more) {
    return 'XXX';
add_filter('excerpt_more', 'change_excerpt_ellipsis');

Change the blue X’s to whatever text you want to appear instead of the default bracketed ellipsis.
